Artist's notes: My digital homage to Bill Reid and Johnannes Vermeer. The late Bill Reid carved the original mask -- called "Woman With Labret" -- and Vermeer inspired the the painterly treatment of the lower lip. "Woman With Labret" is on display at the University of British Columbia Anthropology Museum in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
